After a quick test of the mid November lows early in the week, the equity markets continued to go through the process of their high level consolidations by moving to or towards the upper ranges of these patterns.

Of special note this week comes with the precious metals sector which saw strong buying as both the price of gold and silver went to new pattern highs. As long as this sector continues to show good money flow characteristics, this should keep equities with a bullish undertone.

Also on the radar this week comes with the DAX index as its advance/decline line moved to new 2 year highs on Friday. With the DAX having the same market characteristics as that of the NASDAQ, and the NASDAQ getting a little ahead of itself last week, we'll need to be on guard of a probable false start near term where another trip back to the rising bottoms line (shown in orange) might be indicated before we get the actual A/D line breakout to new highs.

Otherwise, steady as she goes...with mid December still the likely time for the end of the current consolidation although, as we saw last week, any short term surprises will remain with the upside.
