CCJ and DEN.TO are uranium producers....the others are explorers:

UEX.TO - for analysis guidance going forward, note the lower boundary of the upsloping channel on the weekly over the last year or two.

Note price behavior in past December/January's after the strong rally each year.

Take note of similar data for CCJ, DEN.TO, IUC.TO, and LAM.V

---------------

LAM.V - this is why it is wise to buy channel support or some other support on pullbacks...note price on 12/7 when this news was released:

3-box reversal now complete on the PnF chart, which is customary price behavior. More than a 4-box reversal in the future may indicate the start of a trend change.

$57.50 approx next minor support area. This one generally moves in increments of $2.50 during swings.

note price moving up to the 200 sma today
a good example of buying channel support - see the weekly chart

http://stockcharts.com/gallery/?iuc.to

note the constructive pattern on the weekly chart
there are some risks visible in the daily chart....note the proximity and direction of movement of the 50 sma toward the 200 sma, though the pattern in recent weeks of bottoms above bottoms and rising highs is encouraging.

an article from early in the year:

Hedge funds eyeing uranium market
Relatively stable sector faces volatility if money managers jump in, analysts say

Globe & Mail / Wednesday, January 12, 2005 - Page B8

VANCOUVER -- For the first time analysts and brokers can recall, hedge fund managers are dipping a toe in the uranium market, buying the nuclear fuel in the same way they would purchase other commodities such as copper, oil or soybeans.

And just as it has in other markets, increased hedge fund activity in the uranium sector could lead to increased volatility and higher prices for the metal, market watchers say.

"If the activity increased, certainly," prices could be affected, said Jim Cornell, president of Connecticut-based RWE Nukem Inc., the world's biggest nuclear fuel trading company and a subsidiary of German utility RWE.

The uranium market has traditionally been relatively stable, with few purchasers and a small group of international brokers, Mr. Cornell said.Much of the buying and selling -- about 90 per cent of total sales volumes of 18 million pounds last year -- has been done through "off-market" transactions aimed at minimizing the impact on spot prices, he said.

Hedge funds may not be as genteel.

"I don't know if they would do it as discreetly," Mr. Cornell said. "They might go in quietly for a large quantity and go out in a public way with a smaller quantity to boost price.

"They are speculators and they want volatility. And in this market, most people have resisted volatility."

But Mr. Cornell and other analysts said increased interest from hedge funds may not translate into increased activity, as the uranium market presents unique challenges.

"The market is not transparent at all," said Greg Barnes, a base metals analyst with Canaccord Capital, adding that there are still questions about potential stockpiles in China and Russia and other supply and demand issues.

Mr. Barnes also questioned whether there is enough volume in the uranium sector to attract a significant number of hedge fund players.

That said, he added, "I wouldn't discount them coming in. And if they do, that will add volatility to prices."

Spot uranium prices rose by about 33 per cent in 2004 and some analysts are predicting further increases, due primarily to plans to build more nuclear reactors in China and India.

Mr. Cornell said RWE Nukem has been receiving more calls from hedge fund managers, although most of them have been looking for advice in investing in uranium equities, not purchasing the metal.

Robert Mitchell, a portfolio manager with Adit Capital in Portland, Ore., has purchased physical uranium, buying 835,000 pounds of U308, or yellowcake, and 140,000 kilograms of UF6, the gaseous form of uranium.

At current uranium prices, Mr. Mitchell said, he expects Adit to devote about 70 per cent of its funds to purchasing physical uranium and the balance to buy and occasionally short uranium-related equities.

Adit, with about $26-million (U.S.) under management, is a division of Touchstone Investment Managers LLC, which has some $200-million under management.

Mr. Mitchell said his fund can't take physical delivery of uranium, which can be delivered only to licensed facilities, but said he buys it and has it stored on his behalf.

Canadian and Australian resource companies have been some of the most profitable stocks to own during the last 3 years. Here is a link that is worth monitoring to identify those with strong chart patterns. It is how I found UEX.TO when it broke above 60-70 cents Canadian:

Robert Mullen has been posting at stockcharts.com "public lists" regarding uranium miners and explorers for some time now:

btw, it is instructive to plot the 21 ema vs. the 34 ema on the weekly CCJ chart.

a blog I recently discovered that is devoted to the sector:

there is a January article in Barrons about uranium and some of the stocks.

This company is mentioned in the article as a speculator in the price of the uranium commodity itself:

10:06  FRG Fronteer Development announces two new uranium discoveries in Labrador (3.27 +0.06)

The co has made two uranium discoveries on new drill targets in coastal Labrador. These new discoveries demonstrate the potential for multiple, economically-significant uranium deposits in the region. The two targets, Jacques Lake and Otter Lake, are located 25 kilometres to the east of the historic Michelin uranium deposit. Outside Saskatchewan, Michelin is one of the largest undeveloped uranium deposits in Canada. The co anticipates a major follow-up drill program at Jacques Lake and Otter Lake. At Michelin, there will be a focus on in-fill drilling and resource expansion at depth. It is anticipated that the 2006 drilling program will involve at least 20,000 metres of drilling.

this is simply an fyi related to the sector, and nothing more than that...this is of interest because Areva is a large uranium producer...in the top 5 of producers (whether publicly traded or not), if memory serves:

18:01 Tonight on Mad Money: Cramer is bullish on the French co Areva

The co trades under the ticker CEI.FP. Areva mines and processes uranium, builds nuclear plants, and expects 20% growth this year.

details about Areva from street.com site:

today's low tested the 50 sma, where price action reversed direction and headed up.

continued bullish action may depend on moves above these moving averages, once resistance levels above $70 are overcome:

daily 21 ema is approx. $71.63
20 sma is 73.32

value of weekly PSAR buy is $65.42...and the distance from the weekly price lows to the weekly PSAR is decreasing.

major support on the daily was tested by today's lows...which was bought.

CCJ intraday price action is testing the 20-day ema:

20 ema - $71.77 approx
20 sma - 73.39

today's high tested the historical support/resistance at the $72.50 area.....short-term traders are selling at that price for now. Many CCJ traders read Ted Burge at Stockcharts public lists who has long posted the CCJ support/resistance prices on page 5 of his site:

http://stockcharts.com/def/servlet/Favorites.CServlet?obj=ID445101

This week represented the first bearish 5/21 ema crossover since mid-Nov. The daily 8 ema vs. 34 ema is showing less of a bull in its configuration....and the 8 ema continues to point down.

CCJ trades split-adjusted on 2/23.

most of today's CCJ price action has been above the 20 day ema....note the recent declining volume trend.
