continues to make new highs daily

http://stockcharts.com/gallery/?bucy
continues to move up following cup and handle breakout last week

http://stockcharts.com/gallery/?ener
note today's volume
$44 area appears to be the entry to the next major resistance zone, if it makes it above the resistance zone it tested today.

http://stockcharts.com/gallery/?lfc
note the PnF chart as it moved above the IPO highs today ($35.60 is the prior intraday all-time high which was reached on 1/2/04)

http://stockcharts.com/gallery/?sndk
is this a double top forming or will price advance above $65.49?
note the early 2000 price levels offer resistance to a potential move higher
note the daily and weekly volume trend
tax-deferral selling to kick-in next week?

http://stockcharts.com/gallery/?n
the lower boundary of the price channel on the weekly remains unbroken

from 9/27 prior to the bid for FAL by N: N is a miner of copper as well as nickel and nickel alloys, and accounts for about 20% of global nickel sales. China continues importing nickel at a rapid rate to fuel the demand for stainless steel products. The fact that China is still importing copper and nickel at a strong pace seems to be catching many investors off-guard who were betting that demand would drop in the second half of the year. N sells 60% of its nickel to Asia, positioning it well to capitalize on the demand from the region. With metals prices like copper and gold often seen as hedges on inflation, N appears to have continued upside potential, especially as energy prices continue to rise. While many experts believe there could be a nickel glut in 2006, until demand from Asia shows signs of weakening, N seems to be in great position. Even if demand does slow next year, investors should note that N has over $1.17 bln in cash that could be used to boost its dividend or pay down debt.

60.00 resistance area remains unbroken

is the pattern of lower lows and lower highs in the process of being broken?
price is trading between the uptrend and the downtrend lines shown on the PnF chart

recent downtrend is in-play and is easily visible on the PnF chart

'Phase One' of Million Solar Roofs Program approved at Public Utilities Commission- Environmentcalifornia.org : Earlier this week, the PUC officially unveiled a plan to invest $3.2 billion over 11 years to build 3,000 MW of solar on a million homes, businesses, farms, schools and municipal buildings through consumer rebates. Today's vote approved Phase One of the program - a tripling the amount of money available in 2006 for solar on businesses and municipal buildings from the current $50-100 million level to $300 million. This 2006 pot of money will go toward the current waitlist accumulated since mid-2005, when existing funds ran dry, as well as for new applicants in 2006. In addition, $58 million remains available for homeowners and small businesses to invest in solar panels via the California Energy Commission's rebate program in 2006. The complete program, if approved in mid-January by the 4 eligible voting members of the PUC, will be the nation's largest solar power investment and the first-ever program designed to make solar power mainstream and affordable, without aid of subsidies within a decade... Solar Plays include: ESLR, STP, SPWR, ENER, SPI, and DSTI.

sure thing, Randy. Today's volume gives a clue about selling here or later. ESLR in the alternative energy sector is also moving well today. I am voting for giving ENER a chance to keep moving higher and it may not stop at the all-time high....crude oil's move up today helped the cause. I added to my ENER long position early in the day.

ENER - will keep an eye on the daily and weekly PSAR for further clues. Am using a trailing stop in the meantime.

Also note the price channel and the pattern of the 10year+ chart.

10:06 ENER Energy Conversion: Before the open, Natexis Bleichroeder noted that ENER may have overeacted to the news (40.88 -0.44) -Update-

Before the open, Natexis Bleichroeder commented on the ENER announcement that Samsung has signed a 10yr licensing agreement with Ovonyx for Ovonyx's P.R.A.M tech. The firm believes that the agreement with Samsung would not likely generate significant royalty revenues for some time (i.e., years), as it will take time to develop, market and distribute new user applications. Thus, in the short term they believe that the stock may have overreacted to the news and they would expect to see the shares retrace somewhat as the details of the agreement and its potential economic impact on ENER come out.

14:55 GOOG Google: Piper Jaffray analyst on CNBC (416.49 -3.66) -Update-

Analyst comment how it will be very hard for GOOG to have another year like 2005, saying it is very hard to maintain the growth GOOG has had for another year, but he says they are expecting solid growth from the company in 2006. When asked about new products the analyst says GOOG has been working on their bandwidth issues. When asked what is the internet name in 2006, says it will be GOOG, since it will be hard to take that title from them. Sees GOOG expanding in the new year, to more than just search. When asked about Yahoo's (YHOO) EPS multiple compared to GOOG, he comments that Yahoo and Google are good buys.

09:32 GOOG Forbes columnist says GOOG will fall 50% in 2006 (416.78 -3.37)

Not much explanation provided, but Forbes columnist Daniel Lyons in his "Bold Prediction" portion of today's column says that GOOG will drop 50% plus by the end of 2006.

Steve,

Thanks for the info with your ENER position, I dumped Thursday at $42 (didn't want to press my luck and took the profit).  Since I've been on holiday break this week and could pay attention to the intra-day wiggles, did a day trade with ENER today... almost a 3 point scalp.  Also had some good luck with UARM this week.  Thanks for bringing ENER to our attention, been a good play and we'll see what it does if it gets above $43 zone.

Saw your CBI and KFX comments on JAB's list, any positions there?

Randy

long both...stop below $23 for CBI and stop below $17 for KFX (tightened that stop today because am unsure about a continued move...I am inviting a need to reenter later at higher prices by having a tight stop on KFX but that is ok).

The risk/reward with CBI entries in the $20-23 area appears favorable in my opinion because the support zone has held....we'll see what happens now that the period of potential tax-loss selling is complete. The risk of a downward price move on news does exist.

CBI history can be found in this thread:
